EB-5 Investment

An investor can apply for a green card after making a capital investment.  One may not loan funds to the investment enterprise.  One may receive a gift or borrow the funds which are invested in the EB-5 qualifying business.  The funds are usually invested for five years or longer.

There are different types of qualifying investments.  All investments must create or save ten jobs.  These jobs must be at the firm in which the immigrant makes his/her investment and do not include the investor and his/her dependent family members.  However, investments in a Regional Center may create or save the jobs of people who are not employed by the firm in which the investment is made, but who are indirectly employed downstream in the economy.
